About Botā & The Clean Standard
What is Botā?
Botā is a curated clean-beauty and clean-living platform that brings together over 170 products from 19 hand-picked clean brands. Founded by three sisters, Botā isn't a single-product brand — it's a vetting layer. Every product earns its place by passing The Clean Standard, our multi-criteria framework for genuinely clean formulation. We do the reading-the-label work for you, so the only products you see are ones we'd use ourselves.
What does “clean” actually mean at Botā? What ingredients are banned?
At Botā, “clean” means formulated without ingredients flagged for hormonal disruption, sensitisation or environmental harm. Every product is free from parabens, PEGs, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, silicones, oxybenzone and SLS/SLES. Nothing reaches the shelf until it clears these exclusions — part of our wider Clean Standard vetting. “Clean” isn't a marketing word for us; it's a checklist every product has to pass before we list it.
How does Botā vet its brands and products? What is The Clean Standard?
The Clean Standard is Botā's multi-criteria vetting framework. We assess every product across four pillars: ingredient safety, formulation transparency, sourcing ethics, and brand integrity. If a product fails on any pillar, we don't list it. It's why our edit stays small and considered rather than endless — curation over volume. We review the full INCI list, the brand's sourcing and claims, and how transparent they are before a single product goes live.
Are Botā's products cruelty-free and vegan?
Cruelty-free practice is one of the things we look at when vetting brands under The Clean Standard, and many products in our edit are vegan. Because formulations vary by brand, cruelty-free and vegan status are shown per product rather than guaranteed across the whole catalogue — check the individual product page for its specific credentials.
Are Botā products natural and organic?
Many Botā products are natural and plant-based, and several carry organic certification — but “clean” and “natural” aren't the same thing. Our priority is safety and transparency, not a label. Some effective clean ingredients are lab-made; what matters is that every product passes The Clean Standard. Certifications are shown per product.
Is Botā EU-compliant?
Yes. Botā is a French company (SAS BOTA, based in Cannes) and every product we sell meets EU cosmetics regulations. On top of mandatory EU compliance, our Clean Standard applies stricter ingredient exclusions than the law requires — so “EU-compliant” is our floor, not our ceiling.
Choosing products
How do I choose clean skincare for sensitive skin?
For sensitive skin, start gentle: a fragrance-free cleanser, a simple barrier-supporting moisturiser, and one targeted treatment at most. Because every Botā product is free from synthetic fragrance, SLS/SLES and common irritants, our whole edit is a safer starting point. Introduce one new item at a time, and patch-test any new product for 24 hours.
How do I build a clean skincare routine or repair my skin barrier?
A clean routine can be simple: cleanse, hydrate, protect. Morning — gentle cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturiser, SPF. Evening — cleanse, treat, moisturise. To support a compromised barrier, lean on calming, hydrating formulas and avoid over-exfoliating. Every Botā product already clears our clean exclusions, so you're choosing on feel and goals.
How do I know which ingredients are in a product?
Every Botā product page lists its key ingredients and benefits, and each product has already passed The Clean Standard — so you'll never find parabens, PEGs, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, silicones, oxybenzone or SLS/SLES in anything we sell. If you have a specific ingredient question, email contact@bota-care.com and we'll help.
Orders & delivery
Where does Botā ship to?
Botā ships across most of the EU, plus the UK, Switzerland and select European destinations including Monaco. Shipping is calculated at checkout, with free delivery on orders over €75 / £80. If you'd like to order from a destination not listed at checkout, email contact@bota-care.com and we'll do our best to help.
How much does shipping cost, and is there free shipping?
Shipping is a flat €8 for France and the EU, and £10 for the UK; a few destinations (Austria, Finland, Denmark, Sweden) are €10. Orders over €75 / £80 ship free. Your exact rate is always shown at checkout before you pay, with an express option available.
How long does delivery take?
Most orders are processed within about 2 business days. After that, allow roughly 3–4 days for delivery within France and 4–6 days across the rest of Europe. An express option is available at checkout if you need it sooner. Orders placed over the weekend ship the next working day.
Can I track my order?
Yes. As soon as your order ships, we'll email you a tracking number so you can follow your parcel on the carrier's website. If you haven't received tracking or have any questions about your delivery, email contact@bota-care.com and we'll check on it for you.
Returns & support
What is Botā's return policy? How do I return something?
Botā offers a 30-day return policy. To be eligible, items must be unused, unopened and in their original packaging, with proof of purchase. To start a return, log in to your account, select the order and items, choose a reason and submit your request. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the item arrived faulty.
Can I return an order I changed my mind about (EU)?
Yes. If your order is shipped within the European Union, you have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel or return it for any reason, no justification needed. Items must come back unused, unopened and in their original packaging with proof of purchase. This sits alongside our standard 30-day return policy.
How do refunds work and how do I contact Botā?
Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll email you to confirm whether your refund is approved. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 14 business days, though your bank may take a little longer to post it. For any question — orders, returns or products — email contact@bota-care.com.
