FAQs

What’s the natural alternative to benzoyl peroxide

Tea tree oil (5% concentration), salicylic acid from willow bark, and azelaic acid are the most clinically supported natural alternatives. Used consistently, they perform comparably to low-strength benzoyl peroxide without the bleaching of fabrics or the harsh drying.

Will facial oils make my acne worse?

The wrong oils will (coconut, wheat germ — both highly comedogenic). The right oils actually help: jojoba mimics the skin’s natural sebum and can signal the skin to produce less; marula and squalane are non-comedogenic and anti-inflammatory.

Why is my acne getting worse since I started using clean skincare?

Often this is a transition period — if you’ve moved from heavily stripping products to gentler ones, sebum production may rebalance over 2-6 weeks. If breakouts persist past 6 weeks, look at diet (dairy, high-glycaemic foods), stress and sleep before changing routine again.

Can I use clean skincare alongside prescription treatments?

Yes — gentle clean cleansers and non-comedogenic moisturisers complement most prescription acne treatments (topical retinoids, antibiotics) and reduce the side effects of dryness and irritation.
