FAQs

What’s the difference between dehydrated and dry skin?

Dehydrated skin lacks water (it can be oily and dehydrated at the same time — it usually looks tight and shows fine lines when you smile). Dry skin lacks oil (sebum) and typically feels rough, flaky and tight regardless of weather. Treat dehydration with hyaluronic acid and humectants; treat dryness with plant oils and ceramides.

How does hyaluronic acid actually work

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant — it holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Applied to damp skin, it draws moisture from the environment (or, in very dry climates, from the deeper layers of your skin — which is why you should always layer a moisturiser on top to seal it in).

Why is my skin still dry after using a heavy cream?

Because cream alone often can’t reach skin that’s lost its lipid barrier. Layer in this order: hyaluronic acid serum on damp skin → facial oil → cream on top. The oil seals in the water; the cream protects the whole stack overnight.

Will plant oils break me out?

Some oils are comedogenic (likely to clog pores) — coconut oil and wheat germ oil being the most common offenders. The oils we stock (marula, plum, rosehip, squalane, jojoba) are non-comedogenic or low-comedogenic and safe for most skin types, including oily and combination.
